I got it to work on a Fedora box, and I think the problem is how Ubuntu
installs ruby.  There is no site_ruby directory in /usr/lib, it just
goes strait to /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/.  Plus, Ubuntu doesn't install gems
either. Maybe if I have time I will install ruby from source, to make
sure.
