I have been having problems with msfgui as well... Im running Ubuntu
and have install ruby-gnome2-all 0.16 from source, I get no ruby errors
from msfgui, the only output I get is...

root# ./msfgui 
[*] The msfgui interface requires the ruby-gtk2 and ruby-libglade2
package


doing a 'ruby -e "require gtk2;"' and 'ruby -e "require libglade2;"'
returns no errors.
